The Difficult Art of Being a Woman in the Arts

We received this incredible invitation to participate in the event “The difficult art of being a woman in the arts”, from the Ombudsman’s Office.

The Ombudsman, Ángel Gabilondo, has defended the role of women in the arts , at an institutional event held on March 8 at the institution's headquarters, on the occasion of International Women's Day.

Under the slogan  The 'difficult' art of being a woman in the arts, the event was attended by the bookseller Lola Larumbe and representatives of the Network of Women, Artists and Creators. Teresa Jiménez-Becerril opened the event and had words of recognition for women who throughout history are not visible in the arts, who have had to fight in a world where being an artist and a woman was doubly difficult. "We wanted to dedicate this March 8 to all the women who have worked hard throughout their lives in the world of art, where they were relegated for a long time," she said.

The event ended with a performance by the musical group Jazz Trío, made up of Astrid Canales -vocals-, Mar Sánchez -guitar- and Mikaela Vázquez -violin-, who performed an adaptation into Spanish of the Portuguese song “Triste, Louca ou Má”.
